WELCOME

The St John Vianney's Library provides a wide selection of materials to support and enrich the curriculum. All resources whether text or audiovisual are catalogued and managed by the Oliver Library System. As well as the more traditional sources, a range of CD-Roms and the Internet are available for information searches.

Information Skills lessons are taught within the context of the curriculum. Resource based units are planned and taught co-operatively with the classroom teacher. The aim of these lessons is to teach the student skills which will facilitate independent learning.

Opening Hours

  • Open before school every day from 8.15 am
  • Closed at First Lunch
  • Open Second Lunch for rostered classes
  • Open after school till 3.15pm

Student Borrowing Limit

  • The loan period for primary students is two weeks.
  • Pre-primary to Year 2 may borrow one book.
  • Year 3 – 5 may borrow two books.
  • Year 6 - 7 may borrow three books.

Care of Books

  • Books need to be carried in a bag to protect them.
  • At home have a special place for books that little brothers, sisters and pets cannot reach.
  • Do not lend your library books to other students without returning them first. Your friend might lose the book.

It's that time of year again to challenge yourself and sign up for the Premier's Reading Challenge! The Challenge is an initiative of the Queensland Government and is aimed at promoting reading for pleasure and learning.
This year the Challenge has expanded to include years 6 and 7 and the Premier is challenging every state and non-state student from Prep to Year 7 to experience or read 20 books between 28 May and 5 September 2008
